Character Creation

This is that part in video games where you spend hours customizing your character, so this guide is going to cover the absolute essentials and get out of your way. Let's cook!

Join our content sharing campaign

This step gives you access to all the content you need to make characters on DDB for free.

Make sure you have a character slot available on D&D Beyond
Click on one of the following character creation links - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Click Create Character

Home page

You will find yourself on a new page with a bunch of toggles and settings. Just do the changes mentioned here and leave everything else as is!

Put in your character name.
Turn on only the Core Source, turn off everything else.
Turn off all the Partnered Content.
Change Advancement Type to XP.
Change Character Privacy to Public.

All done! Click on the 〉 to go to the next section.

Classes, Backgrounds and Species

The next three pages are all you, spend as much time as you want and make the hero you would love to play.

Just make sure you are Level 5
Assign the stat bonuses from your background
If you need help in this segment, reach out to @PlayerMentor in the game support channel.

Your background does not represent your current status in society, whatever your background maybe you are currently an adventurer. Additionally, your character can’t be from Sunndi. Backstory is not relevant to gameplay.

Abilities & Equipment

Choose Point Buy as your Generation Method and assign stats accordingly.
Choose Option A from all equipment sections that you get from your class and backgrounds. Fighters can choose Option A or B. Not C.
Click on Add starting equipment.

Scroll up to the top of the page and click on the page icon

DONE! You are at your character sheet. Have fun running from dragons and stuff 🧡

and… we are done!

Now you can submit your character as is by going to player character and following the pins!

Multiple characters!

Yup, you read that right. You can make not one but Two characters when you begin playing in this westmarch. It is optional but available at your pleasure. This number might even increase in the future depending on many problems you guys solve or create. The relationship between all your characters is left up to you to decide they can be strangers, siblings, friends and whatever else your fantasy takes you to!

Just know that one of the many intents of us allowing multiple characters is so that in the early days of the westmarch at lower levels when characters are at a higher risk of death, you may still retain information and knowledge learned through that character on your second character without breaking immersion. Mechanically both characters are separate entitles, with xp, gold, items etc tracked differently. They need to be distinct personalities from each other and recognizable as such.
